St. Joseph Crochet/Knitters Group

We meet the first Sunday of the month in the Parish Life Center Media Room from 1:00-3:30pm.  We provide yarn & needles for those persons wanting to learn a new skill.  Please feel free to bring a friend & snack to share!!!  Knit/Crochet makes hats for St. Joseph Room in the Inn & Baby Baptismal Blankets for newly Baptized babies in our parish.  Look us up on Facebook under St. Joseph Knit/Crochet Group.

Coffee & Tea are provided.  We are working on simple techniques & simple hat patterns & baby Baptismal blankets. The hats we produce will go to help St. Joseph “Room in the Inn” Ministry. The baby blankets are for our newly  baptized babies in our Parish.

CHALLENGE.........As many of you already know our mission is to make hats for Room in the Inn & Baptismal Blankets for our Parish.

To date we have given 2 huge bags of hats & scarves to Hilary Combs for Room in the Inn.  We continue to get donated yarn and needles to further our mission cause from many outside sources.  Ann MCConnell on average donates 5-10 hats and 5 scarves each month to us.  My mother, Sara Roberts donates 5.  My challenge to each of you who are in this group is to produce and turn in 1-2 hats before we meet again on November 5th.  Some of you are still learning so just be patient with yourself and don’t give up!!!!  Those who would like to join this group or just donate to their mission refer to contact info below!

Patty Self  approached our group last month on behalf of Barbara Harnishfeger, whose ministry is The Shepherd Center, asking for crocheted/knitted hats/scarves & dish cloths.  We gave her some of the hats/scarves that had more color appropriate for women.  Pat Samour has recruited Henriette & Jamie from the Legion of Mary to knit/crochet the dish cloths.  If any of you have cotton yarn to donate to further the cause of Barbara ‘s Mission please contact Patty Self.

Kate OL Finchum brought some cotton yarn this past Sunday for donation.  My mother brought some yarn & needles donated from Ray & Peggy Hyde as well.

Also, yesterday I gave Rita Shade in the Church Office, 3 wrapped boxes containing Baptismal Blankets with signed cards from our group.  We still have many more to box up and wrap.  I could use some donated boxes & white wrapping paper.  Barbara has donated white ribbon to us.
